It's Yoga. It's Martial Arts. It's Budokon!

MBDY is the proud Maryland home of Budokon!

Created in 2001 by Cameron Shayne, Budokon (also known as BDK) is a renowned mixed martial arts system which integrates Martial Arts, Yoga, Calisthenics, and Animal Locomotion.

Budokon uses the yogic, martial and living arts to study the world and our role within it. The Budokon system approaches life with the goal of self-improvement; students work to fulfill their potential and improve themselves from multiple aspects.  As a belted system, each level has certain requirements for Academy members to fulfill before moving onto the next rank. These are both physical requirements and educational ones, achieved through required readings and self-work.

Kancho Cameron Shayne

Cameron Shayne is considered the father of the mixed movement arts culture.

He began studying Martial Arts and Zen meditation at the age of 12, and yoga asana and calisthenics training at 25. He has black belts in both Yoshukai Japanese Karate-do and Korean Olympic Style Taekwondo, as well as his Brown Belt in Gracie Jiu-jitsu. He has been studying and sharing Yoga, Martial Arts and Zen meditation collectively for over 30 years.

His experience and knowledge in multiple types of movement led him to create a system which blends martial arts forms and principles together with lengthening yoga movements, resulting in the Budokon Yoga style and the Budokon Mixed Movement Arts System.
